A Welcome Message
Since I joined Michiana Behavioral Health in 2015, we’ve made changes, both inside and out, that are helping us create the right environment for healing. We are proud to be helping more patients year over year as a result of increased staff and more targeted programs for patients. Our psychiatrists have improved patient care by speaking with the family/guardian within the first 24 hours of admission. Our nutritional options for patients have improved, and we’ve upgraded our exterior landscaping, seating and overall ambiance. We’ve also trained our staff in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), as it has become our evidence-based model for our residential program, and is also integrated in our acute programs.
As the entire country fights the national opioid crisis, our Detox Inpatient Program has helped over 800 patients in just the past 15 months. Recognizing the continued need for opioid continued services, on July 1st, 2018, we began a Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program (CD-IOP). As this program expands, we are assisting patients with transportation and housing opportunities. We are excited to continue treating addictions after they’ve completed their inpatient stay with us.
In upgrading our campus, we’ve made sure that every inch of space is being used for its greatest purpose, finding ways to create as much space as possible for our patients and their families. Family therapy is such a significant component of our program, so we’ve added extra rooms for group and family therapy sessions and assessments. Moreover, we have just recently replaced all of our patient’s beds. Outside, we’ve taken advantage of our wooded setting, and promote getting outdoors whenever possible during a patient’s stay. The newly renovated private courtyard, accessible for adults, has been a big hit for patients and staff.
Finally, in 2019 we will continue to prioritize patient outcome data for each level of care. This will provide us with data and understanding of our patients improvement and their level of success during their stay. We will share this data continually throughout the year.
